As mentioned previously, Pitbulls, by nature are very "people" oriented. Consequently, they are quite loyal and loving to their owners.
Structured obedience training can begin at about 5 or 6 months, depending on the dog. We started "Rocco" at about 51/2 months.
When we were learning how to train a Pitbull, we were informed that the training sessions should be no longer than 10-15 minutes in duration.
It is best to conduct these sessions with the dog and just one of the owners. With only one owner present, the dog is not distracted. In addition, the Pitbull will recognize each owner as an "Alpha" leader, and give them appropriate respect.
Don't make the same mistake that My friend And I made with Rocco. We waited FAR too long before we attemted to train him. He had already adopted BAD habits that were tough to break. Definitely , learn how to train a Pitbull ASAP!
